Why move from Webflow to Astro?

Webflow is a great builder until the bills, CMS limits, and lock-in start taxing growth. Astro gives you speed and full ownership without losing your design or your team's ability to edit content.

Webflow to Astro migration for faster performance
Performance Without a Ceiling

Astro ships almost no JavaScript by default. Marketing pages routinely reach high 90s in Lighthouse, which builder platforms rarely match under real content loads.

Webflow to Astro migration for full code ownership
Your Code, Your Repo

The site lives in your GitHub as clean Astro components. No platform lock-in, no proprietary CMS format, and any developer can work on it.

Webflow to Astro migration for lower hosting costs
Hosting That Costs Almost Nothing

Static Astro sites run on Netlify or Cloudflare for $0 to $20 per month, with no per-seat fees. Builder hosting bills grow as your team does.

Webflow to Astro migration with Sanity CMS or MDX content
A CMS That Fits Your Team

Sanity gives editors a visual studio. MDX keeps content in markdown files for free. We pick the right one in the audit, and your content stays yours either way.

Webflow to Astro migration with the design preserved
Design Preserved Exactly

Your current design is rebuilt pixel accurate, with animations recreated in GSAP. Visitors will not notice the platform changed, only that pages load faster.

Webflow to Astro migration for AI-ready content architecture
AI-Ready Content Architecture

Structured content, clean schema, and a git repo make AI workflows practical: assisted drafting, agent access to your content, and answer engine optimization.

Webflow to Astro Migration Process

[STEP-1]
Site & SEO Audit

I inventory your Webflow site and map:

  • Pages, components, and interactions
  • CMS collections and item counts
  • URL structure and current rankings

You get a fixed quote and a migration risk map. If staying on Webflow is the honest answer, I say so here.

[STEP-2]
Content Export

Your CMS content comes out through the Webflow API into Sanity or MDX. You review the field by field mapping before the build starts, so nothing is lost in translation.

[STEP-3]
Rebuild in Astro

I rebuild your design as clean Astro components, matching it one to one or improving it where you want. Animations are recreated with GSAP. You get weekly preview links, not status reports.

[STEP-4]
SEO-Safe Cutover

Launch protects everything you have earned:

  • Every URL preserved or 301 mapped
  • Titles, descriptions, and schema carried over
  • Sitemap resubmitted to Search Console

The switch happens at a quiet hour with your old site ready as a fallback.

[STEP-5]
Handoff & Support

You get the repo, handoff docs, and a recorded walkthrough of the build and the CMS. I monitor Search Console for 30 days after launch, and fixes in that window are included.

FAQ - Webflow to Astro Migration

Q1. Can't I just export my Webflow code?
Webflow lets you export HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on paid plans, but not the CMS content, forms, or site search. Exported markup is also hard to maintain as a codebase. A migration rebuilds the site properly as clean Astro components, and my step-by-step migration guide shows the full process.
Q2. Will my rankings drop?
If URLs are preserved and redirects and schema are handled correctly, any dip is small and recovers within a few weeks. I keep your URL structure identical wherever possible, which is most of the battle.
Q3. How does my team edit content after the migration?
Sanity gives your team a visual editor and live previews. MDX means editing markdown files, which suits developer-comfortable teams and costs nothing. We pick the right one in the audit.
Q4. What happens to my Webflow interactions and animations?
They are rebuilt with GSAP and CSS. I catalog every interaction during the audit so nothing silently disappears.
Q5. What will hosting cost after the migration?
Typically $0 to $20 per month on Netlify or Cloudflare, with no per-seat fees. Most Webflow sites pay more than that today.
Q6. Should I pick Astro or Next.js?
Astro fits content and marketing sites: less JavaScript, faster pages, cheaper hosting. Next.js fits sites that are turning into apps with logins and dashboards, and I run Webflow to Next.js migrations for that case. I build both, the audit gives you a clear recommendation, and my Astro vs Next.js comparison explains the trade-offs.
Q7. Do you outsource the work?
No. You hire me, and I write the code, run the calls, and answer the emails.
Q8. What if I should stay on Webflow?
Then I will say so in the audit. I offer full Webflow services, so I have no reason to push a migration you do not need.
